Rich Cribs: Kings Point home for $17.5M, and more

Vitas GerulaitisNewsday

A Kings Point home that once belonged to the late tennis champion Vitas Gerulaitis has come on the market for $17.5 million. The renovated home with its rooftop deck overlooks Long Island Sound with views of the New York City skyline and the Throgs Neck and Whitestone bridges.

There is a 300-foot pier with a lift for a 50-foot boat, a dock with LED lighting and steps to a private beach.

Among the seven bedrooms and seven baths is a 2,500-square-foot master suite, which includes two 50-inch fold-down flat-screen TVs, fireplace, powder room and kitchenette. The master bath suite has another 50-inch television as well as a Jacuzzi pool, solarium, his-and-hers bathrooms and a five-person granite steam shower.

There is also an indoor-outdoor pool with handmade and hand-laid Mexican tile with gold-leaf inserts as well as two 65-inch TVs, underwater speakers, built-in benches, a fireplace and an integrated Jacuzzi.

Gerulaitis died in September 1994 at age 40.

And let that be a lesson to you all. Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row.” — post-match conference at the 1979 Colgate-Palmolive Masters after beating Jimmy Connors after Connors had beaten him 16 times in a row.

Two divisions’ point standing

Divisions of 4-7 teams (each team plays every other team in their flight a minimum of two times during the regular season) will send the top two teams (of each division) to playoffs.

The clarification:

Actually, the top 2 teams from each division goes to the district playoffs (another way to look at it is that you’ve played each of the other teams in your division 3 times, so the top 2 teams advance to district).

If you make it to districts and win both your matches, then your team advances to the Regional playoffs.

Districts: 8pm at NTC; semi: Wed, July 25 (announced on 7/20); final: Tue July 31
Metro: August 3 and 4
Eastern Section Championships (Schenectady NY):
o 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 – August 10 – 12, 2012
o 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 – August 17 – 19, 2012

The captains’ meeting

Thank lord Jenn is taking the lead, as the captain for our 3.5 girls team, I went to the wrong location for the meeting – the old one that changed its names frequently. This time, the league used a different bar at different location, not far thou.
