Tony arranged a\u00a0lunch with\u00a0Ras last weekend in a\u00a0Greek restaurant in\u00a0Astoria.\u00a0 I was\u00a0dumb founded.\u00a0 The two women had skipped\u00a0the town; he’s just her one time\u00a0practice partner.\u00a0 The relationship should have ended.\u00a0 They go\u00a0their separate ways.\u00a0 Apparently it’s not.\u00a0 Tony wanted to help\u00a0the\u00a0Dream Girl, so does Ras.\u00a0 Tony’s interest was purely doing good.\u00a0 Ras’s bit more, he’s also interested in finding coaching\/managing \u00a0in China in the near future, for he is smart enough to know that he isn’t going to make it on the ATP circuit.

\n\"\"<\/a>He is the same age as Dream Girl but much more mature, can have a conversation.\u00a0 Not just “I like to read comic books, I love to watch TV ..”\u00a0 He\u00a0ranked #2 in Greece as junior, but didn’t get alone with the president who ran the federation.\u00a0 Not only been denied\u00a0sponsorship,\u00a0he’s even scratch off fm the Olympics in Athens in 2004.\u00a0 Right now he lives in LA, attending Irvin as senior or had just graduated.\u00a0 He and Tony agree on one thing: Dream Girl needs help,\u00a0needs a know-how coach,\u00a0needs a worldly manager, and on top of them all, a solid financial backer.\u00a0 Yu’s smart enough to take her so far, but now she stands on the way.\u00a0 After all, \u9e1f\u67aa\u6362\u70ae\u00a0era, you got to use the cannon to survive, in order to win.\u00a0 Yu just doesn’t have it.\u00a0 They reasoned that when she saw Dream Girl leap\u00a0at Australian Open,\u00a0shot up to 90+ in\u00a0ranking, she thought the time to reach top 10 was just few more months.\u00a0 (She perhaps signed the Adidas deal<\/a> without consulting a lawyer, or anyone with tad\u00a0of knowledge.)\u00a0 But she didn’t realize the higher you go, the more difficult it becomes.\u00a0 She has Dream Girl practice only 2 hours a day.\u00a0 There is no training regime.\u00a0 This just doesn’t cut.\u00a0 Jonathan’s said he could be her manager, but too bad she can’t afford him; he also commented on my question whether they had consult a lawyer before ink the\u00a0Adidas deal: “hiring a lawyer needs money …\u00a0.. ” \u00a0Yu is very sensitive about people who offers help (suspicous\u00a0of their motives?) – she doesn’t seem to be asking, and is very protective of Dream Girl (guarding\u00a0her investment?).\u00a0 I found it’s one of the saddest things that one doesn’t know his or her limit.\u00a0 (Or Yu knows but afraid losing control, hence her investment?)\u00a0 Would Chairman Mao be remembered or judged differently should he retired after 1949?\u00a0 I’d think so.<\/p>\n

This shortsightedness, \u9f20\u76ee\u5bf8\u5149\u00a0sounds familiar?\u00a0 China’s improvement over the past 30 years is tremendous, and I’m very proud of it.\u00a0 But in the company\u00a0of other highly developed nations, China is green, unsophisticated, can only see what’s under its nose.\u00a0 If you want to be in the major league, make the investment.\u00a0 Lacking education?\u00a0 Hire a pro.\u00a0 Between financial means (that can make many things happen)\u00a0and talent, I think talent plus\u00a0hard working is more vital.\u00a0 Ivan Boesky had hoped that his son would make into tennis.\u00a0 He even built an indoor tennis court\u00a0on his compound.\u00a0 Obviously money can’t buy talent in this regard.\u00a0 (Or maybe his son found better thing to do.)<\/p>\n
