Zhang Shuai v Karolina Pliskova

Zhang played well, had match point … but lost the match in the third. The two advertisers looked bid odd on her top. And the outfits.

French Open 2017: Ostapenko

The 2017 trip to Roland Garros, for a memorable final: Jelena Ostapenko beat Halep 4–6, 6–4, 6–3 to win the title. Both girls go for broke, which makes the match so much more thrilling – by far, it’s the best match I’ve seen at RG over the years.

The two wore identical outfit – a first.

I found an excellent seat at the very last moment – couldn’t believe it. There I go -:) … with an expensive airline ticket … oh well.

Never heard of Jelena Ostapenko before, who played with gusto. She takes so many daring shots, which made the match so exciting to watch. I’m overjoyed for her to win, especially beating out Halep, the loud screamer.

A new toy

I don’t know how accurate this gadget is (I don’t think I could serve 151 km, which is 94 miles per hour), but for the fun of it.

The first set I swung exactly 100 shots. We lost first two sets and won the third.

The weather is nearly perfect. We arrived with a wet floor but quickly it dried up. I’ve a photographer on hand …

On my back

A little milestone today: I did 1100 and 600 was backstroke.
I haven’t been swimming free style for a while since the bike fall last October. I could do a few laps of free but that’s it. Not for long.

I never learned the backstroke but just kind of do it. Today, I did it for long and happy with the result.

My little bathing cap, goggles and bottle of tea are the witness -:).

Life is short, live it hard

WSJ reports the former Sara Lee CEO Brenda Barnes Dies at 63.

In 2010, Ms. Barnes had a stroke while working out at a gym near her home in suburban Chicago and resigned as CEO of the company when it became clear she faced a long recovery. She was able to regain much of her mobility but didn’t return to work. The balance is thin and varies from person to person: how much and often do you exercise. My take is, do as you desire. If you enjoy doing it, then by all mean, do it.

Luc Robitaille and his home: Staples Center

For a causal fan, I know Wayne Gretzky but not Robitaille. However, his status is bigger than Gretzky in front of the downtown in LA. As I was amusing loud, one of the guys in team’s uniform, pointed to a man walking by me, “that’s him.”
Oh well. I was too slow to take a better picture of him.
