Two sandhill cranes 沙丘鹤

Sunrise. A pair of sandhill cranes 沙丘鹤 by the pond.

I played well, till someone retired.

~ w/ Matt 5-1
~ w/ Brad 2-5
~ w/ Mike 2-3 on serve

Michael doesn’t play often.

I served first and played a very clean game.

My left arm looks useless in my singlehand backhand.

After heavy rain, the fences look like having screen or barrier, impeding visibility. The tables and chairs have poddles as well.

Moon in the morning

It’s a slow day, playing with Bob (5-0), Larry (5-1) and Chris (3-5).

The morning moon looks pretty: 竹篮打水 or 水中捞月 – catching the moon from the water?

… and more

… a few serves and drops

Adidas Barricade

A good game w/ Pete, Ed and Greg W: 4-5, 5-0, 5-1 (1 is my error …)

My left arm was in pain yesterday, so I almost asked for a sub … but arm pain is less tormenting than heartache.

I was prepared to serve underhand. Once there, couldn’t help but serve normally. And there’s little pain. The joy on the court can erase any pain.

One doublehand backhand and one double, the rest were single hand backhand, forehand and drop shots. Greg felt trying to get to one of my drop shots. Pete joked (or was he?), “if you keep playing like a girl, we won’t invite you anymore.” 😂

So, to sneakers.

Adidas Barricade that is. I find Adidas still makes Barricade, although not as sleek. Geee … my impression was the manifacturers always come out with new models, so when I see some good ones, I buy more. For Barricade, I bought three additional pairs, one white two grey. Gosh, IF I knew they keep making it, I would not have bought so many. This old grey one is the last of the four pairs.

So sneakers
因鞋商通常都革新 所以见到喜欢的就多买一些
Adidas Barricade

2-1, and a full game

Someone wasn’t well to play. Although I’m not either but I need the drug. So I signed up. Then the 4th didn’t show. Then the coach steps in. Of course he won all 3 sets. But he also offers many tips to us. Mine was to tighten the grip before strike the ball when serving. It works well immediately, even my serve still needs work.

  1. w/ Matt 2-6
  2. w/ Greg 1-6
  3. w/ coach 6-4

The third set, I lost two serves before serving out.

Slinger 投石器 ball machine

Tennis ball launching machines began with a hand-cranked device patented by Rene Lacoste in the 1920s, which allowed for stroke repetitions. The first commercially viable machine was created by Bob McLure in 1970 using a vacuum cleaner motor, leading to the “Little Prince” and Prince Sports, Inc.

In modern times (ha ha ha), I think Lobster is the most well-known (?). Now comes the Slinger – my buddy got one. I find it useful betwenn my lessons: only very points that stick with me, unfortunately.

  1. 1.08 didn’t do well in game
  2. 1.07 practice w/ A Lot girls
  3. 1.05 practice: back & forehands are good
  4. 1.04 volleys & tossing
  5. 1.03 backhands; volleys
  6. 2026.1.02 fore & back
  7. 12.17 keep arm straight n extended
  8. 12.14 alone time, swing volleys
  9. 11.08 3 fingers
  10. 11.04 closed face forehand
  11. 10.25 mixed; volley
  12. 7.30 forehand & spin or drop
  13. 2.09 backhand

My left arm is still out of commission (coach said it was due to incorrect tossing…) but I need to have my dose of drug a.k.a. play some tennis: like practice my forehand and singlehand backhand.

topspin and backspin

Since I got back confidence of my forehand, on and off, I’ve been practicing it.

  1. it feels right fm the get go: ht on the rise
  2. the backspins: are they?
  3. the forehand: need to hit early
  4. the single hand backhand:

The two finals @ Wimbledon

Two sets of players, who are very similar in age
Two Americans made into semi, only one won. But then she was bageled in the final. My heart went out for her: stay strong, be back soon.

Today is the mens’ final, Sinner def Alcaraz in 4 sets. These two kids are becoming fast revivals: they won all three slams, with US Open to go.

… I think the girls can use some make over -:)

Amanda Anisimova into final

Amanda Anisimova (2001; 2016, $6,545,206) def the screaming animal, made into her first slam final at Wimbledon. She failed to captured the first 4 match points, made the fifth on her opponent’s serve. I’m very happy for her.

Ok… the grip tape: is the shine side up or what? I redid two this morning before the match – matte side up, which is SO wrong. Oh well…

Belinda Bencic

Mom BB (1997-; 2021, $13m) def teenager Mirra Andreeva (2007-; 2022, $6m) in straight sets, both in tiebreak in their quarter final match.

The post match on court interview is heartwarming: she’s humble and genuine.

Jelena Ostapenko’s underwear

Jelena Ostapenko’s underwear inspection at Wimbledon, 2025

Is this for real? How could we allow this kind of thing done to female? Their queen is a divorced woman for Pete’s sake.
