A wonderful game @ Tropicana Field: Tampa Bay Rays won 11-3, over Cleveland Guardians.
Their 10,000 gallon touch tank has cownose stingrays.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays (1998–2007): The original name chosen when the franchise was established. The initial choice, “Stingrays,” was already copyrighted by a minor team in Hawaii, leading them to use Devil Rays.
From 2008 on, the team dropped “Devil” to distance themselves from the negative connotations of the word and rebranded around a bright yellow sunburst symbolizing the Florida sunshine.
