Coach comes in and asks, what am I working on w/ the Slinger. I said “oh, my forehand and backhand, and serve … ” He then offers me a few pointers / tips for my forehand:
We played a total of 21 hands, with the same partner (Barb and I, v Joyce/Matt). Barb played 12, winning 6, and I played 5, and won 5. Host Matt played 1 and lost pretty badly.
The second grand slam is worth considering / talking about: I’ve 4 aces, 25 hcp, 7 hearts. I bid first. My thinking goes: I’ve a game, so I bid 4♥️. But if I bid something less, I might have to stick with it. The 7♥️ gives me a way out. My partner has six clubs, including K.

I would bid 4 clubs. This is “Gerber” asking for aces. You will get a response then of 4 diamonds from your partner, indicating none (you already have 4). Then bid 5 clubs to ask for kings. If your partner bids 5 diamonds, indicating none, I would then bid 5 hearts and stop. If your partner bids 5 hearts. Indicating one king, I would then bid 6 hears. If your partner bids 5 spades, indicating 2 kings, or 6 clubs, indicating 3 kings, I would bid 7 hearts.
I played well. Nearly all my forehand deep shots were in: Slinger helps.
It’s an esay win with the same gang, except this time is with Matt, vs Sandi and Joel. I’ve two doubles; the third set one game is on me: I failed to hold serve.
Overhead is one of many strokes of tennis. I lob more than hit the overheads. My success rate is a mere 50%, which is why I don’t like to hit it. I usually lob back.
I serve first and won it easily. Can’t say it’s a good serving day: still tray but no doubles. As usual, some of my serves have pops. My tosses are high and worked well for me.
In this league, each of the 3 periods lasts only 12 minutes, NY generally 15, while the pro leagues 20 minutes. All went smoothly, except one collision.
The green Hornets team before them has a mom: way to go, lady!
This TGH site has a full bar Top Shelf Sports Lounge or Power Play Grill & Sports Bar (?), therefore imposing the beer captain system: within the team, players rotate as the buyer of the beer for that week. Usually 2-3 can per mate.
Correct: your grip and backswing is ok and you stepped into the ball ok (although the double hander can be played open stance with good hip rotation).
Could be better: with the time you had I would rather see you come another step forward and hit the ball on the rise or the top of the bounce. You lose a lot of power and spin by letting the ball drop.
You’re a touch slow to meet the ball and with an open face. You are giving away power with that swing. Most players with two handed backhands hit a lot of flat balls but just close the face a touch, hit a little earlier and you’ll find more power and more topspin to keep it in.
Otherwise, it’s a good backhand and I like your footwork.
