Eli golfs too

This issue of Golf has Eli Manning talkin about golf. .. apparently he likes karaoke too.  When asked if he’s better golfer or singer, he replied: “Well, I’m not very good at either.  But I guess that’s the great thing about singing and golf: you don’t have to be any good at either to have fun.”  :))) I left that page open for Golfer to read, 🙂

LT .. identity theft?

LaDainian Tomlinson that is.  Ehmagawd, can’t believe the media allowed LT to be used for another footballer!

1. LT = Lawrence Julius Taylor only.

2. Why 300 flat screen TVs for the fire displaced San Diego victims?  2,000 X’mas dinners for the poor I can understand.

An encounter with history

That hangs over the present.. The Giants isn’t going anywhere .. sight … Ok, some believed that Angela [Merkel] meeting the Dalai Lama is to hold the Chinese to respect human right.  It was the Swede Linnaeus (1707-1778) color-coded the people into 4 categories: white, red, yellow and black, and David Hume (1711-1776) placed premium on the white.  I’m wondering:

1. can we please leave the human right thing to that nation?

2. if the Chinese prevailed back then, would the world following Chinese value and tradition now?  Same goes with Africans, if they prevailed, maybe the hunting and sleeping next to a tiger is the thing nowadays rather than a 5-bathroom mansions?

3. if we believe that humans are truly created equal, can Chinese now view the humiliation we suffered a century ago was a lesson to be strong to defend herself?

4. who’s going to say that what the Europeans did to the Chinese back then were different than what Chinese is doing to the Africans nowadays?

5. when can Eli finally score a TD in the red zone?  They’re ahead by only 3 pts … could have had a TD !!!

The emergency room week

cimg9749.JPGI’m going to dedicate this week as the emergency room: visited it again on Wednesday.  As if it’s not dramatic enough, I ran into one of my tennis buddies there: needing stitch on his chin – obviously trying to dive for a point.
Pumpkin always chuckles when I ran into someone somewhere, because she firmly believe that I knew half the tennis players in NY and half Chinese populace in the USA.
Gosh, being a doctor is not at all pleasant.  It’s respectable and almost noble, but very stressful. Given the medical system in the US, it’s down right rotten, they might spent half of their time fighting the HMOs than cure the ill and sick.  The return of their investment – longer school, residency and malpractice insurance.. it isn’t worth it any more. The only partially joyous one is OB/GY when part of their duty is delivering babies, which is the only happy occasion ..

Beijing Civilized Workers Cheering Squad

No need to scratch your head.  This is one of the public-education programs gearing up to the coming out party next Aug in Beijing .. with four major points: don’t insult former wartime enemy Japan; don’t swear; respect the referee; and don’t snap indiscriminate photos.  .. think I’ll past the last one?  … “Many Chinese don’t understand why they can’t take photos when athletes are about to serve or hit the ball; they think it’s the best moment to take the shot,” .. :))

“We are not going to shout profanities in front of foreigners because the Olympics is a show for foreigners,” Gosh, can’t we do something good, not even dreaming great, just for ourselves? … But if the Olympics can shake up their manner, so be it.  It’ll be great!

Here is a cute one:  China’s Olympic history, which dates from 1894 when founder Pierre de Coubertin sent an invitation to the Qing Dynasty to compete. Unfamiliar with the sports, the government reportedly didn’t reply.  China didn’t win a gold medal till 1984, calling 1984 “the year the humiliation ended,”  This time, China is expected to challenge the United States for the most gold medals.  …hmmmmmm … I’ll cover my eyes … too nervous and torn … Hey, how about China share the gold medals with the US, and the rest of the world can fight over whatever left?  Hopefully the games’ll played out fairly, not like in S Korea.

New playing style

I devised a brand new style of play due to the little nagging pain on my left knee, or around there: use one leg.  My right leg is pretty good, holding up so far.  Tue was so painflul that I didn’t get to play much.  Not playing would hurt more – 烧包, :).  Very surprise Simon and I won all our 3 sets: landslide against Big Steel and Michael, then was hair raising one against John and Yong – we were donw 0:8, then 5:11!  And the final set against Big Steel and Yong.  Simon played very hard and well.  I probably should hit the pool instead.  I miss the smell, miss the steam room, miss the swimming!!!  What’s stopping me???

It’s over

The 4th Q just started, but nothing goes right for the Giants.. might as well be over.  It’s painful to watch.  Did Payton jinx it?  Why doesn’t he take a walk elsewhere and let his kid bro play????  They looks so so so unprepared.

My prince

The last piece of remnant of my lost love or last love ..

My last Prince.  Either got stolen or I lost it somewhere.  It was a while ago.  At time, few friends had been suggesting or hinting to get a new racket to improve my game.  I thought nothing of it since I was in love with the ThunderBolt, till one day I walked onto the court and opened my bag, found my little red engine was gone.  When, where  and how .. I didn’t know.  But it was gone, for good.  Disgust, disilluted, I mindlessly started using my kids, Head.  And falling in love with it.  See, I’m easy to deal with.  And my game improved.  塞翁失马,焉知非福  End of story.

Lately, with the new serve, I double fault fewer times.  Actually I didn’t double fault at all for the past few times I was out there.  Happy?  Yeees.  How happy?  hmmm … the gradation is hard to gauge.

A shopping day

Went to shopping on Tue at the mall, it’s like a zoo, mother/daughter teams were abundant.  I even ran into a neighbor there with her daughter, Pumpkin’s good friend.  Did Abercrombie & Fitch make the headline due to their racy ad couple of years ago?  She went there because her little groupies all went there.  The line to the cashier was huge.  Naturally, I waited on line while she and her cronies shopped.  That’s what mothers for.  When I saw the little pink bag in her pile, I wondered what did she buy at Victoria’s Secret.  Not at La Perla? Oh, I like their lotion, she replied.   … …. My thighs (especially the left one) hurt so much from the hiking on Sunday that I was basically limping around in the mall.  Wondering why no one offered me a wheel chair.  But managed to play badminton that night, Fan’s last day, had to go.  He’s leaving on Thur .. getting married .. be back after Chinese New Year – Feb 2008 .. pls bring back a pretty and badmintonable bride!  Simon is baaaaack.  He and I lost to Fan and Michael.
