Line call and 0-6

It’s not a good night.

A new player came to play. I served to ad court and my ball hit the doubles line. There was the sound and followed by the funny bounce. Yet, the new player called it out.

“Did you hear the sound?”

“Ha?”

Sometimes I wonder if they play dumb to get away with it.

Ball on court

Playing with people with little regard to etiquette is a little disconcerting.

“Let’s have a drink.”

But it’s even number of games.

“It’s ok, we just play for fun…” Hmmmm … then why do you obey the other rules of the game?

Ball on court as my patenter to deliver the second serve.

“First serve,” I said, after returning the ball to the neighboring court.

They all said, “… but, it’s her second serve.”

Speechless.

We lost 2-4, 6-8, and 4-4 when time ran out. My point is, they beat me often, yet, don’t bother to learn the basic rule or courtesy of the game.

Bad line calls 叫球

Some terrible line calls during the game today. Actually with this group of players, bad line calls is kind of route, to a point, I said something a few weeks ago. But that doesn’t stop the trend.

Today, we were 2-0 up in the first set when I hit a winner to the baseline corner of the ad court. Two balls in, yet they called it out, one player was facing me. I just lost it and went over. One opponent pointed to a ball mark closer to the service line. You got to be kidding me.

“It’s out call.” One said.

“Yes, it’s your call but it doesn’t mean you can call a clearly in ball OUT.”

“It’s our call.” they repeated.

What the heck.

A sweet moment

My third clinic at the club, the pro is the best, so far. Next to our court, is a father and son, they kissed at the net, very sweet.

Kiddies …

It’s the spring break in New York – kiddie camp is going on. The club is up-keeping the courts – refurbish with more dirt. We successfully dragged Ellen up for 8am game …

Ha ha ha … we’re not but three of mates are using the bag.

We did a 1.5 set of doubles for an hour and singles for the second hour – hitting only.

Over due

I got an email from the club, saying I owe them. Wait a second, how could that be: they’ve my cc on file and has been charging it.
“These were court fees.”
“Oh … why don’t you charge me as the monthly club due, automatically?”
The staff looked up the computer, then said, “you didn’t check off √ ‘court fee’.” Oh well, must be my failing eyesight.

Club’s operation is pretty precise – a good thing. The more I play there, the more I like it.  Years ago when I hosted many Sunday night plays, I didn’t pay much attention to the club.

4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and it’s not ok

A little girl returned our ball that hit my opponent’s face. The girl said I’m sorry three times while my friend was holding her face for a prolonged time. We rushed to the net … then the dad said to his girl “It’s ok.”

“How do you know it’s ok? It’s not your place to say it’s ok. And it is NOT ok.” I said.

He retorted, “she said I’m sorry Three time. What more do you want?”

“I want some manner and etiquette!” I said.

He just ignored us and continued…

The bridge/overpass on Northern Blvd by Roslyn.

One of my friend went to get some ice (thanks that the club has ice …) It’s swollen a little.

Not that anything one can do … but I would wish all the coaches and parents would have decency and courtesy to pass on. If the dad offered to get some ice I would think it’s a better lesson for his little girl …

🎾 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 难得的赢

A rather rude dad

6-3, 4-6, 6-1

Finally, a win!

In the morning, we always ran into a group of kids, college I’d think. They’re great players and their play often inspire us to play better.

The club has install this temperature tester on the wall … hope this won’t last forever.

The har tru courts are not yet ready, so we played on hard court.

I was going to buy milk but ended up buying up the store …
